Hardened Steel for Concrete and Masonry Fastening

FST concrete nails are manufactured from hardened carbon steel so they can withstand the driving forces generated when fastening into suitable concrete, masonry and other dense substrates.

Concrete varies significantly in hardness, aggregate content and age. Fastener performance therefore depends on the substrate, nail length, embedment and driving power of the tool. Test the actual substrate before repetitive installation, particularly with very hard or brittle concrete.

FST25 hardened steel concrete finish nails 25mm

1.8mm Shank and 2.8mm Head

The FST25 uses an approximately 1.8 mm shank diameter and 2.8 mm head width. These dimensions distinguish the FST platform from larger 14GA concrete T-nails and from ordinary angled woodworking finish nails.

When replacing an existing fastener, match the complete nail specification rather than selecting by 15GA designation alone. Shank diameter, head dimensions, strip geometry, collation and nail length must all match the nailer.

0° Glue-Collated Straight Strips

FST25 nails are supplied in straight glue-collated strips for use in compatible 15GA hardened concrete finish nailers. Each current KYA strip contains 50 nails.

The straight-strip format should not be confused with angled 15GA DA finish nails used in conventional woodworking nailers. A standard 15GA angled finish nailer should not be assumed to accept FST concrete nails.

Galvanized Finish

The featured FST25 uses a galvanized surface finish to provide corrosion protection compared with uncoated carbon steel.

Galvanized does not mean universally suitable for every exterior, coastal or chemically aggressive environment. Select the fastener finish according to moisture exposure, surrounding materials and project requirements.

FST25 for Baseboards and Moulding

FST-style hardened nails are commonly used for baseboard, skirting and moulding installation where a narrow-head fastener is required and the concrete or masonry substrate is suitable for pneumatic fastening.

For baseboard installation, adhesive may also be used as part of the installation system. The nail helps locate and retain the component while the complete attachment method should follow the project requirements.

FST25 for Light-Gauge Metal Track

15GA FST concrete nails are used in selected light-gauge construction work for fastening runners, light steel components and aluminum moulding to suitable floors or walls.

The FST25 should not be treated as a structural anchor. Where a connection has a specified structural load, fire-resistance requirement or approved anchorage schedule, use the fastening system required by the project documents.

FST25 for Furring Strips

The 25 mm length can be used with selected thin furring materials when it provides sufficient penetration into the base substrate. The correct nail length depends on the thickness of the attached material and the embedment required for the actual substrate.

Longer nails are not automatically better for harder concrete. Excessive length can increase driving resistance and the possibility of incomplete seating or substrate damage.

Concrete Hardness and Substrate Testing

Concrete fastening performance varies with compressive strength, aggregate, substrate thickness, distance from edges and the condition of the concrete.

Before production installation, test several fasteners in the actual substrate and adjust the nail length or fastening method if nails bend, fail to seat correctly, cause excessive spalling or do not provide the required attachment.

Compatible FST Concrete Nailer Platforms

FST25 should be used only in a nailer designed for hardened straight-strip 15GA concrete finish nails. A tool being described simply as a “15 gauge nailer” is not enough to establish compatibility.

Tool / Platform Published Fastener Range FST25 Guidance
JITOOL CS15/50 15GA FST mini concrete nails from 15 mm to 50 mm. FST25 25 mm is within the published FST range.
Tacwise EHS50V Type 15G hardened concrete finish nails from 15 mm to 50 mm. 25 mm is within the published length range; confirm strip geometry before production use.
Other 15GA FST Concrete Finish Nailers Varies by manufacturer. Confirm 1.8 mm shank, 2.8 mm head class, 25 mm length and straight-strip geometry.

JITOOL CS15/50 Compatibility

JITOOL specifies the CS15/50 as a 15GA 50 mm Mini Concrete Nailer and lists FST nails from 15 mm through 50 mm for the tool. Its FST fastener range specifically includes FST25 at 25 mm.

This makes the CS15/50 an established reference platform for the FST25 size class.

Tacwise EHS50V Compatibility

Tacwise specifies the EHS50V for 15G hardened finish nails from 15 mm to 50 mm as well as conventional 16G finish nails. Tacwise also supplies hardened galvanized 15G nails for concrete and woodworking applications.

Because different manufacturers can use slightly different strip and head geometry, verify feeding with the actual FST25 fastener before high-volume use.

FST Nails vs. Standard 15GA Wood Finish Nails

FST concrete finish nails are hardened fasteners intended for suitable hard substrates. Standard 15GA woodworking finish nails are commonly angled and are designed primarily for timber trim and finish carpentry.

Do not load FST25 concrete nails into an ordinary 15GA DA angled finish nailer unless the tool manufacturer explicitly specifies the FST fastener geometry.

Packing for Contractors and Distributors

The current FST25 configuration contains 50 nails per straight strip and 1,500 nails per box.

For distributor and project orders, confirm the required FST length, box quantity, finish and exact concrete nailer model when requesting pricing.
