20° Angled Finish Nail Design

The angled strip format allows compatible finish nailers to use an angled magazine. This configuration can improve tool access when working around cabinet interiors, molding profiles, corners and other areas where magazine clearance is limited.

The 20-degree collation angle is a compatibility specification. Do not substitute a different angled or straight finish nail solely because the gauge and length are similar.

Chisel Point and Shank Options

KYA publishes a chisel point for the T-series finish nails. The product information also lists smooth and serrated shank configurations.

When purchasing, specify the required shank configuration rather than assuming smooth and serrated versions are interchangeable. Holding performance can vary with the nail construction, wood species, material density and penetration depth.

Galvanized and Stainless Steel Options

KYA publishes galvanized and stainless steel options within the T-series. Select the fastener material or finish according to the actual installation environment and project specification.

Option Selection Consideration
Galvanized Published option for finish carpentry applications where the specified galvanized fastener is appropriate.
Stainless Steel Published alternative where a stainless fastener is required. Confirm the exact material grade and availability before ordering.

Do not assume a galvanized fastener is suitable for every exterior or corrosion-sensitive installation. Likewise, specify the exact stainless steel requirement where a particular grade is required.

Applications for T50 2" Finish Nails

The 50mm (2") T50 length is intended for professional finish fastening where its gauge, penetration depth and angled collation match the workpiece and nailer.

  • Baseboards and crown molding

  • Door jambs and door trim

  • Window casings

  • Cabinet assembly and cabinet trim

  • Furniture trim

  • Paneling and wainscoting

  • Chair rails and decorative molding

  • Interior finish carpentry

  • Selected flooring trim and cladding applications

Select nail length according to the thickness of the material being fastened and the required penetration into the supporting material. A longer finish nail is not automatically appropriate for every trim application.

Compatible 16 Gauge 20° Finish Nailers

T50 nails should be used only with finish nailers that accept the applicable 16 gauge, 20-degree angled, glue-collated fastener format and the required 50mm (2") nail length.

Before ordering, check the exact nailer manual for accepted gauge, collation angle, nail dimensions, head dimensions and length range. Do not determine compatibility from the tool brand or the term “angled finish nailer” alone.

How to Select the Correct T-Series Finish Nail

Choose the Model by Nail Length

The T-series model numbers correspond to their published metric lengths. For example, T32 is 32mm (1-1/4"), T38 is 38mm (1-1/2"), T50 is 50mm (2") and T64 is 64mm (2-1/2").

Confirm 16 Gauge Dimensions

The published T-series dimensions are 1.58mm wide × 1.35mm thick with a 2.9mm head width. Check these dimensions against the fastener specification for the nailer being used.

Confirm the 20° Collation

The T-series on this page uses a 20-degree angled strip format. Straight 16GA finish nails and other angled patterns should not be substituted without confirming tool compatibility.

Select the Required Finish

Specify galvanized or stainless steel according to the purchasing specification and working environment. If stainless steel is required, confirm the exact grade with KYA before ordering.

Confirm the Shank Configuration

KYA publishes smooth and serrated shank options. Include the required shank type in the purchase specification.
