16 Gauge 7/16 Inch Crown B7 Series Staples

KYA B7 Series staples are 16 gauge medium-crown fasteners with an approximately 11.11mm / 7/16 inch crown, 1.58mm wire width and 1.38mm wire thickness. Available leg lengths range from 16mm / 5/8 inch to 50mm / 2 inches for professional sheathing, subflooring, crating, furniture framing, decking and other industrial fastening applications.

The standard galvanized configuration uses steel wire, glue collation and a chisel point for use in compatible 16 gauge 7/16 inch crown staplers. The B7 format corresponds to the same general fastener class as Duo-Fast 7600, Spotnails 56, Haubold 700, Paslode GSI16 and Prebena Z systems.

Tool compatibility should be confirmed by crown width, wire cross-section, leg length and the exact stapler model. Similar crown dimensions alone do not guarantee interchangeability.

7/16 Inch Medium Crown

The B7 Series uses an approximately 11.11mm / 7/16 inch crown. This medium-crown format provides a wider bearing area than narrow-crown staples and is commonly used in structural and production fastening where the staple must distribute load over plywood, OSB, timber or other compatible materials.

The crown dimension should always be matched to the stapler magazine and driver. B7 staples are not interchangeable with lighter fine-wire staples simply because their nominal crown dimensions appear similar.

1.58 × 1.38mm 16 Gauge Wire

The staple wire profile measures approximately 1.58mm wide × 1.38mm thick. This heavy rectangular profile is intended for professional 16 gauge medium-crown staplers.

Wire dimensions are important when replacing another fastener brand. A stapler may accept a 7/16 inch crown but still require a specific wire profile and leg-length range.

Glue-Collated Staple Strips

B7 staples are glue collated into straight strips for feeding through compatible pneumatic staplers. KYA lists 70 staples per stick.

Store staple strips in a clean, dry location and protect them from bending or impact. Damaged strips or contaminated magazines can affect feeding even when the staple dimensions are correct.

Chisel Point

The standard B7 configuration uses a chisel point for penetration into compatible wood, sheet material and production substrates.

Actual driving performance depends on material density, staple length, tool pressure, edge distance and stapler condition. Test the selected fastener in the actual substrate before repetitive production.

Galvanized, Stainless Steel and Other Material Options

The standard galvanized version provides zinc-coated steel for general indoor construction and manufacturing applications. KYA also lists stainless steel, aluminum and carbon-steel configurations within the B7 product range, subject to the required specification.

For exterior construction, pressure-treated lumber, coastal exposure or other corrosive environments, confirm the required fastener material and project specification before ordering. Standard electro-galvanized staples should not automatically be treated as suitable for every long-term outdoor application.

Compatible 16 Gauge 7/16 Crown Staplers

The B7 Series belongs to a widely used 16 gauge 7/16 inch medium-crown fastener class. Comparable systems include Duo-Fast 7600, Spotnails 56, Haubold 700, Paslode GSI16 and Prebena Z.

Tool / System Compatibility Guidance

Prebena Z Interchange reference for the same general 7/16" crown 16GA staple class.

Do not assume that every 7/16 inch crown stapler accepts every B7 length. Confirm the tool's gauge, wire dimensions, magazine specification and maximum leg length before ordering.

Applications for B7 Medium Crown Staples

  • Plywood and OSB sheathing

  • Subflooring

  • Roof decking

  • Crate and box assembly

  • Furniture framing

  • Decking components

  • Fascia and soffits

  • Lathing and furring

  • Selected fencing applications with the appropriate corrosion-resistant material

B7 Staples for Sheathing Subflooring and Roof Decking

B7 Staples for Sheathing and Subflooring

16 gauge medium-crown staples are commonly used for fastening compatible plywood and OSB in sheathing and subfloor applications. The 7/16 inch crown provides a wider bearing surface than narrow-crown staples.

Fastener length and spacing must follow the panel, substrate and applicable construction requirements. B7/38 should not automatically be treated as the correct subfloor staple for every panel thickness or building specification.

B7 Staples for Crating and Furniture Framing

The Duo-Fast 7600 / B7 fastener class is also widely used for crates, boxes and furniture framing where a heavy 16 gauge medium-crown staple is suitable for the assembly.

For packaging and production applications, choose leg length according to material thickness, joint design and the required penetration into the receiving member.

B7 Staples for Roof Decking, Fascia and Soffits

B7-type staples can be used in compatible roof-decking, fascia and soffit applications when the fastener dimensions, material and corrosion protection meet the construction specification.

For exterior assemblies, verify coating or stainless-steel requirements. Standard electro-galvanized fasteners may not meet all exterior, coastal or treated-lumber requirements.

B7 vs 71 Series Staples

B7 and 71 Series staples belong to different fastener classes and should not be treated as interchangeable. B7 is a heavier 16 gauge, approximately 7/16 inch medium-crown staple, while common 71 Series staples are much lighter fine-wire fasteners used primarily for upholstery and similar applications.

Choose the staple according to the stapler specification and application rather than comparing crown width alone.

How to Select the Correct B7 Staple
